Ok here's a question
Would it be worth it for me to make a separate LJ to post my more adult stuff so that way if people friend it and browse it at work it's their own dang fault? I only say this because I really hate cutting something just because it has nipples, but that is also what LJ filters are for. But also, what if I decided to post something a little more harder than tasteful nipples? Would it still be worth it then? I don't get as much traffic on my images when I put them behind LJ cuts, and my traffic is what helps me in my business. Even my own boyfriend completely missed my tiger pic I posted a couple posts down. That's pretty sad, and he's usually the observant one in the relationship.

Thoughts?

I rather hate that nipples (excuse me, only female nipples) are considered "adult" myself. It's so incredibly stupid.

Still, perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Well thats the thing I hate cutting things at ALL. I'm of the opinion that if you friend this journal you're getting uncut images as it says on my userinfo. If you're in a public place you can use your filters and just brows those while you're in public.

I don't think you should need to cut for nipples. Big deal. That's just artistic nudity. If you wanted to put an erect penis, or a girl doing something to herself, that's different. I'd friend your other journal. :3 Or at the very least, check it every couple of days.

It's now consider4ed good form to put any large images under cuts, regardless. and filtered lists area good idea.

This isn't about download speed, its about ratings. Everyone knows that if I have multiple images or exceptionally large images I do put them behind a cut so as not to fuck up people's f-lists =)

I suppose it depends on how graphic you're looking to get. Artistic nudes wouldn't bother me at work. If it's hardcore pr0n, that's pushing the limits of what I want to stumble into at random. Of course with prior warning, that's where the "at work" filter comes in and it's not a problem at all.

Granted, I have a reasonable amount of privacy at work, I use my own computer (yay mac mini) and people can go straight to hell if they're bothered by it.

Sometimes it's good to be the IT Consultant ^^

Call this thinking slightly out of the box, but why rely upon LJ as the outsource for your art? Personally, a site such as Fur Affinity is much more suited to the purpose of displaying artwork, and best yet, anyone watching your account would automatically see updates saved for viewing.

This, and there are no limits whatsoever to the maturity content of artwork uploaded.

Just my thought upon seeing this.

She gets more hits on her LJ and DA than she would on FA. It's just the numbers.

I don't mind either way. But maybe you could do large preview/thumnnail images for erotic/adult/nipple-y pics? Like, one that censors the pic so you WOULD still have it show up on people's friends pages, and if they want to see the full thing have THAT under a cut, maybe?

Maybe that wouldn't reduce the traffic. I'm not sure, it's a tough one.

thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 15th, 2006 01:48 am (UTC) (Link)
Now THERE'S an idea barge I'd like to stow away on. Do you have the know how to do thumbnails? I'm curious and very interested in how I would do these censored thumbnails. I'm horrid at html but if I knew the tags I couuld probably just start doing that.
yelth From: yelth Date: May 14th, 2006 10:32 pm (UTC) (Link)
You could always start thumbnailing such images. Since thumbnails are graphical, people will "see" that you just posted an illustrative piece and grab their attention. And if you have the cut link saying "May not be Safe For Work" then you've covered your bases for those who don't want to or can't look.

i'd say do a poll and see who wants to even see the more adult work personally, if you're going to post it here. will they be public posts? i personally dont like looking at porn, so i'd have to opt out of said filter if you put it up
kitsuken From: kitsuken Date: May 15th, 2006 12:56 am (UTC) (Link)
hehe, I misread that as "and see who wants to see more adult at work" and nearly burst out laughing at the idea of indignant furries getting angry at work places not letting employees view porn while on the clock. Just the image of "what, *less* porn?! Why the hell would we want less!?"

coyotewings From: coyotewings Date: May 14th, 2006 10:46 pm (UTC) (Link)
I personally say just make a filter. :3 I think it would be alittle easier on you, then having to keep up two journals. I honestly think a second journal may not get as much attention/traffic, that or it would take a while before it does.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 15th, 2006 01:48 am (UTC) (Link)
Very very true and I considered this. Judging by the the reactions I'm getting a second journal doesn't appear to be the answer anyways =)
foxfeather From: foxfeather Date: May 14th, 2006 11:16 pm (UTC) (Link)
Maybe put a teaser or thumbnail of the pic and then full image under the cut? That way people wouldn't miss the art. It would be a bit more work, but maybe the same as maintaining a seperate journal for it? Usually people just seem to skim, and so if they see 'Read more' etc. they miss pics.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 15th, 2006 01:49 am (UTC) (Link)
Would you know how to do this? I'm horrid at HTML but I think this might be the solution for me =)
drake_anaya From: drake_anaya Date: May 14th, 2006 11:27 pm (UTC) (Link)
If you want people to actively filter themselves (ie, don't browse your journal at work), I'm cool with that. If you're talking about friendsfiltering on your end, I don't think that would be a very good idea, because you'd have to start adding people to your friendslist just to let them see.

I'm with the others in the idea that artistic nudity doesn't need to be cut, but anything explicitly porny ought to come with a cut.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 15th, 2006 01:50 am (UTC) (Link)
I'm talking about people filtering /me/ out of their work browing filter, cuz yeah I don't really want to start adding random folks to my LJ (not that i have private posts on here anyways but thats still a lot of journals to wade through on my f-list)

I've only read the top thirdish of the comments posted prior to this, so sorry if I am redundant ._. I don't mind anything. Reeeeally difficult to weird me out on any level, not to say that I search for weirding stuff. I love the way you work and recognize your style. That alone drives me to appreciate what you post, nipples or otherwise. I like your tasteful stuff, I like the harder stuff you and your boy post, but not necessarily on an I-hart-pr0nz level. I love the way you work.

That said, I peel open every cut and will watch you wherever you post!

/stalkeriness :o

Thank you very much! Your feedback is much appreciated. And I had no idea you were watching silber's stuff too XD I <3 his more erotic stuff personally >_> He puts so much detail into the lace! :D
terzy From: terzy Date: May 14th, 2006 11:37 pm (UTC) (Link)

I say go for it

It's worked for me. It's fun to come up with a name, and in my case, an avatar to go along with it. You know that the people who are watching your journal are there to see tits, so you never have to worry about filters. You can say whatever you want without worrying about offending anybody. And you can have FUN MAKING TEH ART because now you have a place to post it, and people who are giving you the kind of feedback you need!

God, I hope you do get one, I just loooove your sexy stuffs. Your colors have been SO amazing, recently, it's been a treat to see you go from digital back to real media with such ease and skill. The recent tiger was byoooooooteefulllll (I'd love to see that one up close!!). And just keep posting the clean stuff here!!

GO FOR EEEET

Love from Terzy, aka kabukihomewood

PS can I AIM you sometime? Do you use IM?

Re: I say go for it

Not all the time but mail me your AIM name and I'll add you? thornwolf227@gmail.com. I keep it so only folks on my buddylist can IM me cuz I'm not much of an AIM talker, but sure, hit me up =) We can trade art tips. I <3 your stuff!

Down with LJ cuts! Bring on the nipples!

Well, I click them regardless, but I get what your saying about lack of traffic. Another journal would be a bit of a hassle and the audience would be considerably less as well. It's just artistic nudity. If people start whining about it then, perhaps lj cuts are in order.
kitsuken From: kitsuken Date: May 15th, 2006 12:50 am (UTC) (Link)
Really, should these people *be* browsing the web when at work anyway? Sure, checking email and maybe the news, but going through LJs? I say stick with one journal. If anyone *really* has a problem they can always use a filter so they don't view it while at work, but that's their responsibility, not yours (since they're the one who's skiving off while at work)
die_monster From: die_monster Date: May 15th, 2006 01:34 am (UTC) (Link)
Kind of agree with the work sentiment, but I don't want furry adult stuff or any adult stuff really showing up while I browse in nonwork social settings. *shrugs* Just a personal preference really, but one I'm willing to bet others share.

i just find it handy to have such pics behind a cut because alot of my lj surfing is done at work. i really don't want to be caught looking at "naughty" things or i'm toast. =/ i usually save those links until i get home hehe.

would be nice to have a separate site so i can check them at home (if you don't want to put things under a cut.)

just my 2cp.
vekke From: vekke Date: May 15th, 2006 08:18 am (UTC) (Link)
But that's just the thing, you can filter certain journals out at work. :0

@Thorn: I kind of like the idea of a seperate journal . . . people are absolutely sure what goes in it so they KNOW that they should filter it at work. Thumbnails would work well too. Your choice, really.

I thought you HAD an adult-only LJ already, for some reason.

I'd also vote for LJ cuts too if you don't want a separate screenname, I'm afraid. ^ ^;;;
