what the shit?
Apparently my furbid account is suspended. LOVELY! I didn't even get any sort of notification or email as to WHY, and I can't log in to even see a reason.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Even if its for something stupid like "hey you owe us money for the image uploads" or something from ages ago I think it is poor form to not tell someone about it.

WTF? That's strange..usually any sort of suspended account ANYWHERE comes with a e-mail/note as to why.

I hope you resolve the issue soon. Seems Furbid's become rather lame lately.

...and wait..furbid has image upload fees now? Since when!?

I don't know when I rejoined.. I noticed it.. I was all wtf.. I am so sick of having to use my server for image uploads..-.-'

For awhile now. But they dont enforce it. I use my photobucket account to upload my images but if you want any extras like attention grabbers or to be featured in the gallery or for a thumbnail to appear by your auction then its a couple cents, like..a dime or something.

But they don't enforce payment. I'm wondering if they're enforcing payment now by suspending my account, but yanno, I've been a good user, I have positive ratings, and I rarely use the damn thing but when I do I make good on everything, there is NO REASON why they should suspend my account aside from that, and DEFINITELY no reason why they should not alert me if I owe them something. I have not gotten a single notification. not one. At least warn me first. Yanno?

That is strange...and it's strange that they have those fees but then do nothing to enforce them. They should adopt a policy more like ebay, where the fees are there but also enforced. Lord knows I can't get out of paying ebay fees if I ever sell something. >.<

I hope you get it resolved though, because that totally sucks, especially if your account is in good standing, too (well, in regards to everything except fees)

lately? since ayukawa took control, I have heard a lot of bad stuff about furbid..
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: April 29th, 2007 03:51 pm (UTC) (Link)
I dont have any problems with ayukawa, shes actually been really nice to me, but I admit ever since furbid was redone I haven't used it as much/felt the need, but now when i actually go to use it i can't? :/

Before getting too irate, I'd write the admin about it.
It may just be a glitch in the system, _OR_ perhaps you switched emails or have an older email registered with FurBid, and there *is* emails in that older box for you as to why (ie, owing over a certain amount or something.)

I've never known the admin of Furbid to be anything but super-hyper-professional to the point that they'll err on the side of doing things right, rather than 'get sloppy' or keep people in the dark.

It happened to me. Turned out it was cause I had two accts, I think...I just had to verify my shit with them and they unsuspended it.

If it helps any, I've always been wary of furbid... -_o I'm not too keen on their staff and practices.

O.o Oddness

I hope it gets resolved soon... It's just insane not to notify the artists in question
silverfoxwolf From: silverfoxwolf Date: April 29th, 2007 10:06 am (UTC) (Link)
Since they 'relaunched' it Furbid has not been the same, in terms of traffic or service.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: April 29th, 2007 03:57 pm (UTC) (Link)
yeah i remember it was quite happening before the relaunch. i like the features now but i think the downtime lost most of its users.

that and the fact that no one checks there to bid anymore.
silverfoxwolf From: silverfoxwolf Date: April 29th, 2007 04:24 pm (UTC) (Link)
I still check there now and again, but the quality of what is offered has also badly suffered. As a lot of artists found their auctions rejected or removed they simply set up using their own site to exclusively sell art and comissions.
calicougar From: calicougar Date: April 29th, 2007 05:03 pm (UTC) (Link)
This sounds familiar.

When they had a problem with my auctions they just shut them down without notice. I thought it was a server error, so I uploaded the same auction at least 4 times, and someone on the other end was merrily going *delete, delete delete*, without bothering with the courtesy of telling me why.

I had to email them and find out what was up, and then they wouldn't reinstate my auctions, telling me I was perfectly capable of doing it myself. ...like those other four times. It was incredibly rude.

I haven't used them since.

Well this was up on the |furbid LJ community|
And same was posted to the |BBS|

Think that any of this could apply? And I always thought accounts got deactivated if the $10 limit was hit until the fee's were settled.. I wouldn't know through personal experience though, I use my own website for image uploading.
neongryphon From: neongryphon Date: April 30th, 2007 12:20 pm (UTC) (Link)
Why not just contact Ayukawa directly?
I had 2 auctions closed before with no explanation to why. I checked up on the rules and saw my error. I can understand why admin would do this as 1) I should know the rules as a user and 2)that's a lot of auctions for the admin to moderate.

I hope you get it sorted!
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: April 30th, 2007 04:21 pm (UTC) (Link)
I did. I got told that basically if I "read the rules" they could suspend my account at any time without warning if they wanted and that I should read the forums more often.

Whatever.
