Sketches
I took the time this evening to do some art for myself. It is /my/ birthday after all. *mumblegrumble*

Unfortunately I still don't have a new scanner so photographs it is. Bad photographs at that. Apologies folks.

Anyways, this is how I spent my birthday. I love being under water. I can forget everything that's bothering me, its so quiet...its like a big wet hug..or something. Er wait..maybe thats "drowning".

And a self motivational pic. I have way too much on my mind these days, I have to draw myself being focused in order to actually /be/ focused.

Thanks! i like drawing humans a lot but im way out of practice. this is why i tend to draw myself moreso nowadays. The water one was totally without reference, i like how it turned out too, im not usually one to experiment with poses much but im glad i did :)

Ah, so it's morning now and I'm not so zombie-ish any longer. What's that mean? Time to prowl through a journal!

So yes... What was yesterday, again? Oh, yeah! HAPPY BRITHDAY! :D

Nice arts too. The cigar there? Yeah, cigars for the win. :)

Thanks for the sweet comment, Thorn! I like hanging out with you, too, when I get a chance to!

What's going on is I'm trying to rent a room from this guy and he seemed really straightforward and respectable and NON-flaky. And then he didn't call. I even gave him like an hour and a half extra window from what he proposed as a time to call me. WTF? Just makes me think that maybe I scare boys too much, even near strangers. Just too real for them or something, even when they are requiring honesty and seem to be getting along swimmingly.

Oh, hey! Haven't had much time on the computer, but I wanted to say that your art here is really awesome! I really like how solid your "self portrait" looks. I'll often draw little doodles of myself in a fierce position saying "RAH!" or something for motivation, so I know where you're coming from! Nice drawings!
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 19th, 2007 05:50 am (UTC) (Link)
aw man i wouldnt worry so much about it, dont take his not calling as a personal attack or anything like that, he probably just could have spaced out and then it got so late he felt embarrassed about calling late. I've done that. More times than I'd like to admit to. Just call him back maybe and ask him for a definite answer? Seriously I think you have a right :) *hugs*

Thanks for the compliments! Its funny, my friends said the swimming one really looks like me. I like to think I'm self aware :D the second pic is more of an exaggeration though clearly. I like drawing myself. Its not a conceited thing its jsut..thats who i see most often ;P
mythos_amante From: mythos_amante Date: May 19th, 2007 06:06 am (UTC) (Link)
I don;t think it's ever really conceited to draw or paint yourself, unless you're taking yourself too seriously when you paint yourself as queen over all others. ;D I think it's part of being a good artist to study yourself, though hopefully with love and curiosity about yourself rather than criticism, though it can be really hard to not be critical when you're retaining fluids, argh!

I think you;re lovely! And yeah, I definitely dig these pieces!

As for the guy, well, maybe I won't take it personally. But I now classify forgetfulness as part of his personality in my mind, you know? Not a horrible trait, but definitely one to look out for in a potential roommate.
