Offroading Adventure Pt 1
wanderinghusky, keesh, mr_rusczyk , and
vantid and I made a very, VERY impromptu offroading trip. Basically I said "I have to write an essay for English" and they're like "okay! lets go to the lake...only...not...lets go on an adventure." Who am I to argue? I still got an A+ in English after all, its next to breathing. *ego ego*

Thornwolf and Vantid, always marking the trail

And then we happened upon a snake who had been nicked by a passing motorist. He was okay though. I named him Mister Slithers. We pulled him off the road to bask somewhere safe.

And then we went to a place called "Deep Creek" over in Apple Valley (the other side of the mountain I live on)
It was simply gorgeous.

I look confused.. I think I was confused as to why Kriz was making a funnel out of Del Taco cups and shopping bags...

I told him to get gas :D

Congratulations on the A+ in English! And those photos look gorgeous. An excellent way to start off summer vacation... until summer school starts up hahaha.

I decided to be a bum and not take summer classes, and build fursuits instead. =P

I only became aware of Deep Creek Hot Springs a few months ago. Zot was supposed to remind me when a trip was planned, but typically, they went without telling me. I've been meaning to make a trip of my own to see the place, but it requires a decent off-road vehicle to get there without taking the Bowen Ranch road (and thus, paying a per person fee to "park").

Absofrickinlutely gorgeous. Thx for sharing these! I realize you're not in LA county, but I have a lot of out of state friends who think Southern California is all either desert, beach, or concrete jungle; it's always nice to be reminded how wrong they are :-)

I agree. Some out of state folks forget we have beautiful redwood & sequoia forests, lakes, rivers, creeks, hotsprings nestled in lush wilderness as well as the scrub wilderness and desert areas. Sandy beaches and rocky coastal cliffs, rolling hills low and high deserts and majestic mountains (like Yosemite!). Heck, one look at some of Ansel Adams photographs shows much of the beauty of California.

Its a shame people that aren't familiar with California debunk it and its people. Figuring its all beaches, deserts, Hollywood, L.A., San Francisco, surfing and skating. :(

Great photos Thorn! :)

I love the area, looks like a wonderful place to go out and adventure in. Some of those places resemble areas more local to me in the Ojai Valley areas in Ventura County. Its a pity I don't find myself out in San Bernadino much to actually take in the local wilderness there. Maybe someday.
