Apparently throwing a shoe, or having the sole of a shoe facing you from someone else is a pretty heavy duty insult. ::Grins::

It was a size 10.

I'm amused.

I can't help but think of Austin Powers...

"I mean WHO throws a shoe? Honestly?!"

That guy was a pretty good shot actually, and I'm impressed how quickly he pulled his shoes off.

Your friends list is faulty. I've seen it three times already. :-p

Perhaps folks are going "well I think everyone else is talking about this since this is huge"

Y'know, Bush has pretty good reflexes. I love that he ducks the first shoe perfectly, and the other guy is just like "what"?

Yeah, secret service is kinda useless, notice it was other reporters who took the dude down before secret service was even like "oh wait..shoes?"

I know, right? I was super impressed with his reflexes.

I heard about it, but never saw anything until now when you posted this. I am quite amused by this none the less.

I suppose future interviews will now require all in attendence to remove their shoes before entering the room during a press conference. :P
corvus_animus From: corvus_animus Date: December 15th, 2008 07:28 pm (UTC) (Link)
Would have been funnier if he didn't duck in time ;)

I heard about it on NPR this morning, but this is the first time I saw the clip. Lawls.

I heard it over NPR yesterday and watched it on the news last night.

Bush seems to have really matured over the 8 years, he took it well, but I doubt it registers in his mind at how much of an insult it was. :P

Actually I think at this point he's just expecting it and laughing that its not an assassination attempt.

well.. I think million of iraquies will think "hmm.. shoes are a LEGAL WEAPON inside the green zone, I shall use 'em" XD
reyfox From: reyfox Date: December 15th, 2008 08:00 pm (UTC) (Link)
With any luck, this will go down in history as symbolic of his whole presidency. I'm not even that bummed that he didn't hit Bush, the very fact that he's getting shoes thrown at him in the countries he's supposedly saving says it all.

Now since I'm a civilized person, I cannot condone this sort of behavior. We need to subject Bush to a fair trial. Then we can all throw our shoes at him. (Someone suggested everyone mailing a shoe to him, which might be fun.)

I think it says a lot that in this same country a decade ago, throwing a shoe at a press conference like this would have resulted in the guy's funeral. Now we are just laughing it off. Well, some of us, some seem to be cheering on a blatantly insulting attack on our President. nice.

I've said it many times.. that man... is experienced somehow, he dodged the shoes amazing.. so I wonder how many times his wife, or the public... trew things at him :O

I found the footage of Bush sr. barfing at that Japanese state dinner much more entertaining.

I saw this on the news last night. If someone had hit him in the face with a pie, I probably would've posted that!

Not so much the post itself, just the typical comments that said post invites.
