Animated icons
I want to make animated icons from either movies or youtube videos but I have no idea how to go about it. What program(s) do I need, how do I get started? Is there a way to do it that will be easy for someone who "uses computers for art and internet but is not well versed in them"? Also, something compatible for Mac?

Thanks :)

*opp, i ment freezedub

Yup! It's a free software that you just download and install, and i use it on my pc all the time. The only hang up is that you need the movie to be a certain file, like .avi, to play. You then select the time that you want frames of and it'll make frames in another file for you.

Simple, screen shot the parts of the movie you want, then use a GIF compiler. You can find a free one online, look for GIF animator. ;P

i do it the hard way for youtube: screencaps and photoshop. i also use media player classic to automatically grab frames from image files.

I just put a DVD in my dvd rom drive and screencap using my Cyberlink Power DVD software... then edit/put together in Photoshop/Image ready.
