doodlesthegreat From: doodlesthegreat Date: May 24th, 2009 02:56 am (UTC) (Link)
And what kinds of tea did you have?
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 24th, 2009 03:04 am (UTC) (Link)
A couple white teas, one that stands out was a peach white tea that smelled like if a peach punched you in the face (mmmm), Mangalam, Madagascar vanilla/bourbon vanilla, Puer, some other black tea, and some Monkey Picked.
doodlesthegreat From: doodlesthegreat Date: May 24th, 2009 04:45 pm (UTC) (Link)
I thought for a moment the last one said Monkey Pickled. :P

It sounds like fun, but yesterday was also the SoCal FurBQ and i had a grand time there as well. We had burgers and grilled corn and sodas and grilled corn and chips and grilled corn and cookies and grilled corn and hot dogs and grilled corn...

The produce section of the local supermarket was a tad empty by the end of the evening. o_O

Can we do this when you come up? ::wiggles::
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 24th, 2009 03:31 am (UTC) (Link)
If you'd like, of course! :) I'll just need help with the cost naturally. I'll ask Amber if I can bring some of her teas.

This particular party was no boys allowed so... ya know ;D
westly_roanoke From: westly_roanoke Date: May 24th, 2009 04:17 am (UTC) (Link)
::Giggle::

Of course I'd help with the cost! ::Grins:: And you know how much I love tea! Hm...I don't see why we couldn't run around and pick up some of NorCal's finest as well! (We have several specialty tea shops around, Japanese, Chinese, American.)

Boys are going to have to be allowed at this one!

Really wish I could have made it! You know, if I wasn't on the opposite side of the country ;)

Still love those invitations!

Ooo food porn!
Nice spread! ;)
droolingfanboy From: droolingfanboy Date: May 24th, 2009 01:01 pm (UTC) (Link)
MMMM, such a fine spread. I have such a hard time getting my friends to eat anything fancier than chips and nuts. The rose and the tea ball in the nasal cavity of the skull are nice touches too.

Seriously though come back so we can hang out or something.

Hey are you still taking pre-orders for embroidered badges or is it too late to get one for con pickup?

Oh and of course, thank you! :D

Sure, I'm working on some for the con atm but the more time before hand the better!
Just need to know what style you'd like; basic critter or ultra-complex with letters, and colour prefs. Here's some more examples of the complex-er style (uno, dos). Simple for 25$, complex starting at 35$.

You ought to post recipes for your snacks, if you made 'em. The lemon squares look sinful. :3
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 25th, 2009 04:18 am (UTC) (Link)
I did make them, cept the desserts, those were boxed items, but the sandwiches and scones I made totally myself. Lemme know which ones you want recipes for and I'll post em in a comment to you here, if all of em, just say so and I'll write em all ;D

Do you have samples of your simple ones? I can't decide which I want and my boyfriend and I would both like one each I believe (I just talked to him on the phone and he sounded excited).
phar From: phar Date: May 25th, 2009 04:58 am (UTC) (Link)
I'm all for any recipes for scones that I can try. My gran's passed down her recipe for fried english tea scones that are bizarrely delicious and much-used. I used to make ghetto bisquik cheezy biscuits at the drop of a hat back in the day, yummers.
I'd also love to know what's in the curry sandwiches. Sounds intriguingly delicious.

These are some pics of my very first wool felted pins (symmetry has come a long way since then, hah), they don't have the detail of embroidery but the idea is the same.
Basically I can do a bust with some fine details (clothes etc) or a chibi-ish full body shot (more basic markings). It's all a matter of how much I squish into a 2.5" circle.

The scone recipes I actually got from this site:
http://www.greatpartyrecipes.com/sconerecipes.html

That shows the basic plain scone recipe and the things you can add to that base that make the variations.

As for the chicken curry sandwiches, I take one of those precooked chickens you get from the grocery store (I try to get something neutral or garlic influenced, not like, BBQ or chipotle or anything crazy) and cut up the breast meat into shreds.

Then I take 1 large tbs curry powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup dijon mustard
salt and pepper to taste

That's it!

What's your email? I'd like to get the ball rolling on one for myself please :) My boyfriend's still deciding. As for whether or not I'm doing simple or complex I'll show you my character and my concept and that way you can tell me what you think is best for the medium?

Thank you!

Wish I could have made it! Though on retrospect now that I'm sick, maybe it's better I didn't. I wouldn't want to spread this bug around with CaliFur around the corner. Glad you had a good time!
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 25th, 2009 07:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
Christ, everyone's getting sick :( I hope you feel better for the con at least!
aurorawolf From: aurorawolf Date: May 25th, 2009 09:37 pm (UTC) (Link)
