New Illustration Community
I and a few of the users over at do didn't quite like how things were being run over there so we've created a new community to showcase works of an illustrative nature:

illustrators_lj

All skill sets are welcome, but we encourage discussion and critique, so please understand that this is a professional atmosphere, not DeviantArt where everyone has nothing but praise.

It is also an English community, which means that all posts must be in English or at the very least have an English translation that coincides with any posting in another language.

We have 2 active moderators which means that if there is an issue one of us will get on it promptly.

So yeah, please check it out, and above all, post art! :D Let's see some pretties!

Joined for sure...

I'm hoping it turns into a lot of fine art illustrations and what not....not just anthro stuff. (Not that there is anything wrong with that)

I will post soon! :D

Yeah that's my hope as well, I advertised on the original Illustrators community so hopefully that would balance it out.

Also nothing's saying "anthro" artists can't draw non-anthro stuff once in awhile! We probably should (I know I should) :P I'm probably only going to post my more non-morphic animal or illustrative/neutral stuff vs. anthro commissions. That's what I have this LJ for XD

Cool!

Like I said, nothing wrong with anthro stuff but sometimes it's really nice to see different things! Still life, landscapes, what not. :)

It might even inspire a few strictly anthro artists to try some things new! :D

totally! I have a couple of "artistic goals" I've set for myself (to practice on ACEO cards or little smaller scraps) in order to try new subjects and mediums, so hopefully this is a place I can post them and get some feedback as opposed to just my personal LJ :D

Were hoping to get other stuff than anthro, yes. I mean there IS the possibility of many anthro art posts at first because thorn and I are both in the fandom. Therefore, since we posted the link of the community in our ljs/twitters, a lot of people will originate from that branch but all in all we highly encourage other subject matter.

I fully intend to post my non-anthro work :D

Huh nifty! Never knew about this sort of thing (Though really i shouldn't be surprised). PRobably gonna watch for the art but if i stop faffing with just sketches as I am lately maybe I could try noodling about myself :)

pretty much not at all. The final straw that did it for me personally was the mod deleted someone's entry without warning b/c they had an inoffensive link to their etsy store where the piece they were featuring was for sale. it wasn't going "OMG SAAAALE" or anything, just a link, like someone would link to their website.

But just a lot of the users completely disobeying the rules (posting really NSFW images, not speaking the lingua franca) and the mod being really passive about it. She reposted the rules in Russian but folks still didn't read it and it wasn't enforced so..*shrugs*

I'm getting blasted on there for making the comm in English but they forget that illustrators is ALSO in English, just no one enforces it. :/ But the point was initially to be more discussion based because as it stands, hardly anyone talks to each other on that comm.

ah I wasn't aware of that comm at all!

You'd think people would be much more interested talking about their art, hm. I tend to prefer more discussion based comms anyways. If you ever get the forum up and running again would it be ok to let me know? I'd be curious to check it out :D

Thanks for the support XD And yeah I really don't know what I said that warranted so much "MANGRY" but, whatevs. I haven't really felt like I belong at that comm anyways, it feels very soup-nazi-ish. Post your art. Leave. /don't say anything else OR ELSE/.
