Mom's Meatloaf (gee, I sound so domestic!)
Double the recipe if you want a lot of leftovers!
1 lb. Ground hamburger
1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 chopped onion (yellow or white), amount depends on your preference.
Garlic salt (1 teaspoon or more)
Pepper (1 teaspoon)
Optional: Mix in 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce OR Worsteshire sauce OR Teriyaki Sauce, etc..
*optional* - add grated cheese, (chedder tastes great)
Top loaf with ketchup - spread evenly
Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients, I usually beat the milk and egg together so it's blended first. Shape in loaf and put in baking dish. Add ketchup. To help with cleanup, line the pan with foil.
Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350 degrees. When in doubt, use a meat thermometer. Let cool about 10-15 minutes before serving.
