ARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHH! - The art of Thornwolf — LiveJournal

I'll give you details about my nice vacation weekend later but right now I'm really mad.

Elisha and Jason have kindly asked me to put the dog outside in the dogrun when I leave the house for work/school etc so she's not running around the house and potentially jumping on the furniture/peeing on the carpet. That's fine, even though my dog is house-trained its their house and they have their wishes, I'd never argue and was quite pleased with the arrangement as they have provided me with a dogrun which I felt was very kind.

Lately they've been tearing up the backyard putting a spa in and landscaping so everythings kind of hectic and messy out there. However, the past few times I've tried to put the dog out...as they asked...the dogrun has been either blocked by:

-A pile of lumber
-jumbo size tractor tires
-a Backhoe
-An uprooted tree

Which I couldn't possibly move myself. Usually I just shimmy through the debris and get in as best I could, barely opening the gate so I can put her in. I've fallen several times before, nearly ruined my $200 shoes AND have gotten many splinters/stains/bruises by doing this. Did I complain? No. Did I ask them to move anything? Yes..I did..nicely, but if they move that they put another thing in the way so the process starts all over again.

This morning I went to put the dog out and there was a GIGANTIC MUD PUDDLE next to the dogrun. Not just any mud puddle, no..more like quicksand as it was so deep and sticky. I tried jumping from island to island as there were little mounds of mud that weren't submerged, but I ended up getting my NEW WORK SHOES SUCKED OFF MY FEET thus ruining them, AND my work clothes which caused me to have to change. I made it to the side of the patio pressed against the house but I realized I couldn't get back over, much less get the dog over, so I ran in the house *left my shoes outside*, put the dog's food in her bowl, pottied her, and wrote a note:

The reason the dog is inside is because there is a giant mud puddle near the dog run and I can't get to it. I've already ruined my shoes trying to put her in, but I didn't feel like injuring myself. If the puddle is dried up by the time you have to leave, please go ahead and put her in, otherwise I don't know what to do. Please call me.

Look. I tried. Ive given this so much effort MANY times and I'm giving up. I really really really hope the dog pees on her carpet, I'm tired of jumping through hoops to do something that matters so much to them.

*edit* She just called me, she put on Jason's big shoes and put the dog outside and gave her some water. I feel like kind of a heel I got so mad about it...I'm just tired of getting injured everytime I try to do something they ask me to do.

Maybe as long as I'm living here I shouldn't own expensive shoes, either that, or buy some galoshes =)

You had every right to get mad about it--if they want you to place the dog in the dog run, then they have to make certain you have complete access. Personally I think it's rather rude that she didn't at least make the attempt to do something since your shoes were ruined, and apparently missing at the bottom of a muckhole.

you're right. I'll sit down and talk with Jason about it. I can probably salvage my shoes, but we'll see. I'll just ask him to please clear a path to the dogrun as well as a path to the washing machine because I'm nearly killing myself each time I try to go outside or do laundry. =P

Oh yeah almost forgot...everytime I get injured they act all scared and ask "you're not going to sue us, are you?". I always say "no", but you'd think if they were that scared I'd call a lawyer, they should prevent stuff like this from happening by removing hazards like..oh..I don't know..GIANT BLOCKS OF WOOD AND RUSTY METAL from the areas I need to get to. *sigh* Kind of makes me wish I could afford a lawyer, but I'm not that mean unfortunately.

Where the heck did you get the money for $200 shoes???

mom bought them for me for my birthday because she wanted to replace my "ugly" birkenstocks. The ones that got sucked into the mud were the black Vans dad bought me to replace my "ugly" gray sneakers. I have poor taste in shoes apparently =/
