Photoshop brushes and thoughts on sketches
Hey does anyone know where the best place is to get really spiffykeen photoshop brushes and explain to me how to install them? Thanks in advance =)

In regards to my last post about a sketchydoodle booklet, I think I very well may do just that, but considering the next con I'm going to be dealing at isn't for awhile (the only one that I can see in my near future is this CaliFur and that's not until next spring/early summer and hardly anyone watching this goes to that), I may just make them and offer them here all the time too for folks that want em, aside from also offering them at cons when I /do/ have a dealers table.

Does that sound cool?

As time progresses I'll of course have different editions, but I'll see about getting the first edition going here shortly, complete with artists notes =D

Where in Cali is Califur? I'm hoping to be in Northern CA some time next summer.

Love the icon btw... I adore that music video. :)

I did a Google search for Photoshop brushes. When I noticed that most of them didn't work, I narrowed down my search to free Photoshop 5.5 brushes. (You can install brushes for earlier versions of Photoshop than what you have, but not later.)

This site had fairly straighforward instructions on how to use brushes.

You can actually make your own custom brushes in Photoshop, (in versions 5.5 and above. they are greyscale files, but for Photoshop CS you can use color files.

Basically what you do is you make a pattern in B/W by what ever means necessary.

you then put a rectangular Marquee around it, and go to the Edit menu and select "Make Custom brush". then double click on the brush that's now in the ottom of the brush pallette, and check the spacing, the jitter, and the like. and there, you have one.

this link describes the process

100x100_brushes and brushaddicts is where i get most of my ps brushes. some of them are specifically made for icons, but a lot of them are just spiffy stuff. they both have like 1000+ members, so its updated multiple times a day.

i only know this because i'm a dork and i make brushes and icons at another lj.

people gave some good links here, but if you're still having trouble making/editing/installing brushes, just drop me a line.

I'm pretty much limited to cons on the East Coast, so yeah that sounds great to me. ^^

Not to sound unprofessional but I made bank at that con BECAUSE I was one of the few artists people knew of. There was me, Xian, SF and Terrie Smith. That's it for familiars that I was aware of..so I think folks "settled" for me XD
