For bloodhoundomega

I'll bring this with me to Germany =)

And for the curious, yes I am taking commissions for full color real media pieces. If you are interested, please e-mail me with what you'd like and I'll reply with a price quote. I'm more than flexible with payment plans of $50 at a time so you don't have to pay everything all at once =)

50 payment plans?!? How much do you charge for commissions?

There are too many artists I really want to commission. I need more monies. XD
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 17th, 2005 12:22 am (UTC) (Link)
Depends on what you want, really. That's why I suggest folks e-mail me and tell me what they would like so I can give them an accurate quote. I've had to raise my prices a bit, something like this would be about $200-250

In other words, you're putting your prices at a reasonable level instead of what most furry artists charge.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 17th, 2005 12:44 am (UTC) (Link)
Not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean that my prices are reasonable that I deserve to charge higher for my art because I spend a great deal of time and effort into it and most folks undercharge, or that by comparison, most artists are more expensive than me?
doodlesthegreat From: doodlesthegreat Date: October 17th, 2005 03:03 am (UTC) (Link)
The former. Way too many artists (many of whom have been at it for far longer than you) who put equal effort into their work are asking bargain basement rates for what they do. Damned straight I'd expect to pay $200 for work of this caliber.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 17th, 2005 03:59 am (UTC) (Link)
Why thank you =) In light of my most recent rant about hourly wage, cost of materials and whatnot, that's refreshing to hear actually. I've often been approached with comments of "dayuuuum that's expensive! I wouldn't expect to pay more than $50 for something like that", it makes me want to throttle them and ask if they would want to work at a McJob for 2 bucks an hour.
selunca From: selunca Date: October 17th, 2005 01:53 am (UTC) (Link)
Amen. :P Thorn, I so happy your artwork is finally in that range. Your art is FABOO.

If I had 200 bucks, I would. Methinks I better start saving so I can commission you sometime soon. :)
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 17th, 2005 02:02 am (UTC) (Link)
My prices used to be lower, but then I realized how much work I was putting into my stuff. Its not an hourly wage mind you, but I noticed that the quality I try to put forth was a lot similar to what a lot of folks put out there for a higher price. Granted I still consider myself on the low end of prices for full color stuff like this, but I don't feel right raising my prices until I get more demand and more experiences. So really my prices are subject to change.

Looks sweet! I hope you do more real media and not just comissions.
crashcoyote From: crashcoyote Date: October 17th, 2005 12:56 am (UTC) (Link)
Do you still have openings available?
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 17th, 2005 01:16 am (UTC) (Link)
Yep, sure do =)

I don't really care for the subject matter, BUT excellent demonstration of coloring skills. Multipule lightsorces are hard, but I feel you managed them well... His eyes are very, very, creepy though.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 17th, 2005 01:53 am (UTC) (Link)
Commissioner's description: "His eyes should be an 'empty' white, no pupils"

...I agree >_>

But thank you very much for your compliments! I had a lot of fun with this.

Wow, very nice! I love all the shading and details. Great job!

Now this is just great! I still like fhte old pose a tad better but still, this is gorgeous!
maggock From: maggock Date: October 17th, 2005 01:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
It turned out great! I love the texturing on the fur, and I think you pulled off the light sources well.
kylet From: kylet Date: October 17th, 2005 01:29 pm (UTC) (Link)
Crikey.

When last I saw it, you were all "I don't know how to do metal and the cage in the center!!"

You learn fast, apparently.
I admit I'm not sure exactly how metal looks with a light source within it, but I like how the chain and the omega came out. I'm sure there's ways to nitpick EXACTLY which light source and reflection goes where, but there's light from all around, so I think it all matches enough. The fur definitely looks black and the backlighting works great...he looks so SOFT. The shine of the heart bleeds gorgeously over the cage and hands.

Lovely work!
silverfoxwolf From: silverfoxwolf Date: October 17th, 2005 04:37 pm (UTC) (Link)
Oooh! That's very nice work, it seems so bright with the backround and the softly shining fur. I'm more then impressed by this piece and look forward to your next submission.
ruggels From: ruggels Date: October 17th, 2005 07:00 pm (UTC) (Link)
Looks good. The chain came out well as did the forehead symbol. Good contrast. The cage has some slight perspective errors, but they are minor, and not a distraction. Good

Gorgeous job. I love how the blue dominates but the red really warms it up. It's nice to see it finished after seeing the sketches.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 19th, 2005 12:20 am (UTC) (Link)
people keep saying that but I really don't know where you guys saw the sketches. I posted them on the Yerf boards and on r_and_c but aside from that I had it on filtered entries here XD

And thank you! I definitely had lots of fun with this.
calzephyr77 From: calzephyr77 Date: October 19th, 2005 04:08 am (UTC) (Link)
LOL! I guess that is what I was referring to was what I saw on the Yerf board. I bet you have a truckload of sketches for this piece sitting around.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 19th, 2005 04:09 am (UTC) (Link)
Why waste paper when I can do all of my editing digitally? ;) I sketch digitally

Oh geez :-D I shouldn't surf so late at night, I never noticed that the difference. *facepalms*

What media did you use for this? I can tell you used coloured pencil, but I'm curious if there was anything else. ^^
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: October 21st, 2005 01:34 am (UTC) (Link)
Watercolor, colored pencil, chalk pastel and acrylic paint =)
