How cute! (In a very take over the world using the clever ploy of extreme cuteness kind of way.)

It's cute... until you get to the part where you're wearing a an Officers hat from the Army that was hellbent on destroying an entire race of human beings and pretty much anything associated with it is as about as negative as you can get.

I'm sure they'll be looking to you as their new postergirl... GO YOU!

If you have tooth aches or some other pains, I'd advise a dentist, not people's journals to get rid of your problems.
tdhartist From: tdhartist Date: January 29th, 2006 05:53 pm (UTC) (Link)
No toothaches... just an entire side of my family completely wiped out in the Holocaust.
From: silber Date: January 29th, 2006 05:56 pm (UTC) (Link)
Sorry to hear that. And I really am. But it's ppl like you making sure what happend back then is still causing trouble today.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: January 29th, 2006 06:00 pm (UTC) (Link)
If youre so in tune with history you SURELY know that this is not an SS officer's hat, this is a German military hat just happening to be from that time period. The difference? The Nazi party was a political party, just like Republicans and Democrats are a political party, sure they had their own extreme agendas, but saying this is a Nazi hat is the same as calling American Army helmets "Republican helmets".

tdhartist From: tdhartist Date: January 29th, 2006 06:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
Yea, "extreme agenda", that's a nifty way of putting it.

And if it's NOT a Nazi hat, why did you go out of your way in your previous post to put it behind a cut? I know why, because it's a hat of the German Military during WWII which was the Nazi's.

Here's the thing... I don't post in your journal because I normally just read it. I like the art and you seem to be a very sweet girl, I thought so after I met you at SDCC and HAD this picture been behind a cut, I wouldn't have said a word... but I have too much history and stories through my family to really think that the images are "Cute". I'm NOT an asshole, but you went out of your way to put it behind a cut before, why not this time too?
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: January 29th, 2006 06:12 pm (UTC) (Link)
You know Tom, if you just asked me POLITELY to put it behind a cut because you find it offensive, I would have. The fact that you were so snarky to me right off the bat is not only immature, but it makes me not want to do /anything/ for you.
tdhartist From: tdhartist Date: January 29th, 2006 06:19 pm (UTC) (Link)
thornwolf...

I will put it like this. I do apologize for being sarcastic. I am a little sensitive to things such as this. I missed out an an entire part of my family because of the actions of this particular Political Party. I ask you, please, from now on, when things like this are going to be posted, if you would please consider putting it behind a cut.

We've already aired out our grievances on this and it's not even Festivis, so let's just let it pass.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: January 29th, 2006 06:22 pm (UTC) (Link)
Much much better, I accept your apology and will from now and here on out post artwork of this nature under a cut.
tdhartist From: tdhartist Date: January 29th, 2006 06:23 pm (UTC) (Link)
Thank you, I appreciate it.
tdhartist From: tdhartist Date: January 29th, 2006 06:34 pm (UTC) (Link)
I wasn't as offended by you wearing the hat as I was about the "Cute" comments. I mean, you're a cutie, but I'm sure you get what I mean. Putting it behind the cut makes people choose whether it's something they want to see or not, right?

I'm facinated by WWII and I watch just about ever show on the History channel on the subject and the Nazi's are something that is facinating. The problem I have is when people make light of it. Calling me sensitive is just as wrong as my attack on thornwolf.

I will also say I was in an antique store last week and a dealer had a case full of authentic SS patches, medals and photos. It was facinatining to see... not to mention to see it for sale.

Please note that my fascination with German uniforms has nothing to do with being hip, trendy or badass. I too am a history buff, but moreso, a uniform buff (which is coincidentally mentioned in the DevID itself). German uniforms of that time period happen to be particularly intersting to me, but so do the more classic CHP uniforms. Most of my circle of friends are uniform affictionados and collectors, which is actually where I got the hat, it is not mine, but a friend's who collects WW2 uniforms and weapons for the purpose of reinactments.

From: silber Date: January 29th, 2006 06:16 pm (UTC) (Link)
The hell? The german army during that time was a regualr army there without disruption from 1871 onwards. If there was a special branch of weapons specially nazi, then it was the weapons SS. What you talk about here is everything but educated and ideologic, so better get your facts straight before you go on and complain.

As Niko said it already, the army in Iraq then is a "republican" army instead of the US army, hm?

You never comment on my journal, and you comment to say /that/? Sarcasm is not becoming of you Mister Hodges. I suggest you find a new method of expressing yourself.
tdhartist From: tdhartist Date: January 29th, 2006 05:55 pm (UTC) (Link)
Excuse me, but you should have put it behind a cut like the other images and warned of offending people like you did before.

You put that out in the open so that people, like myself, whose Grandmother on my father's side lost her ENTIRE family to the Nazi's can see it.
From: silber Date: January 29th, 2006 06:01 pm (UTC) (Link)
Hey. "I" lost a good bunch of my family due to airraids. You still don't see me ranting like that whenever I see an american uniform. So chill.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: January 29th, 2006 06:06 pm (UTC) (Link)
If you look at the info on my LJ, you'll know I don't typically cut my images. That warning is right there in my info. I thought you unfriended me a long time ago, and am actually quite surprised to see you here. But most of all I'd like to mention that you friend someone who even in their LJ interests lists uniforms, ww2 and nazis (no I am /not/ a Nazi, I just happen to like their uniforms despite their barbaric intent)and Germany, so its your own fault you were offended.
tdhartist From: tdhartist Date: January 29th, 2006 06:00 pm (UTC) (Link)
You always figured me for an asshole? Who are you? Do I know you? Do you know my reasons for even commenting? No, you don't. She should have used better judgement as she did with the previous post.

I think YOUR EXPRESSION is adorable, and the hate just makes it seem more "mmm. I'm innocent" kinda thing.

I also enjoy how you made it look like an old photograph. Your sweater is sweet too. You look like the wife of whomever wears that hat, who stole it to have a laugh with her husband. ^^;

Dear mrsbadexample,

I will do so only if you remove /your/ icon of Shirley Manson. Several years ago, my whole extended family was obliterated by a drum solo gone wrong at a Garbage concert. Now I can't even listen to their music without feeling offended by the outright carelessness this band possesses.
