I'm back from Califur! I had a blast, despite the fact that I barely left my table for more than a few minutes. I surprisingly didn't make many purchases this year, as there wasn't much that interested me, with the exception of getting a Niko badge from Terrie Smith. I got a few badge trades as well so I will be scanning the lot of them when I can.

Last minute-like, gearpony decided to sell her half of the dealers table to vantid so Vannie and I were selling together and I must say we make a pretty good team. Although Vannie wasn't set up to do conbadges, she was able to draw and ink them and I colored them. The copic markers that danielcoon got me arrived an hour before I had to leave for the con so I was a happy puppy :D

I showed Michele Light my "Ultimate Bear Guide" book that Vannie got me for Christmas because I heard she liked bears, and we did a sketch trade which I will have to scan, along with the piccy that Skamp drew for me in my book. Yey :D Thank you both!

I harassed xianjaguar a little bit, I feel bad for putting the pressure on you for a badge, bud XD I was half kidding! I do love your badges though. I personally think she did the best badges in the whole con. Theyre so colorful!

Went out to dinner with some awesome folks, first Indian food where the waiters there didn't seem to really want us there (they wouldn't give me my Nan bread!), then sushi which was positively orgasmic, I will definitely do that place again, then Claim Jumper where I think I ate just about everything and totally molested timberwolf4u's meat :9 *that sounds so wrong*.

Granted, I was really stressed out this con for some reason, but I still did have fun, especially once I got in "the zone" with drawing where I felt like I was on a roll. I didn't even suffer burnout yet. Even now I wan't to draw, so hey, good things!

There were a few minor things that happened at the con that were least desireable but for the sake of not sounding negative I'll put them behind a cut.

Had a small little gathering in Timber's room with the usual crowd and we were sitting around drawing when some strange guy slithers in (the door was ajar) and says "alriiiight..looking for a good time". He slides past the TV where we had the laptop plugged in and broke one of the connectors! Didn't say anything, just broke it and moved on his way. None of us knew who he was but we were thinking someone MUST know him. After all the door was pretty much closed, it was only slightly ajar so someone we were waiting for could come in. Lemme just say that room party crashing is extremely rude and it just makes you look sleazy ;P We got him out with some passive agressive tactics but man...he broke the connector cord! Not cool. The really weird thing is is he told us his furry name but he wasn't wearing a badge and I didn't see him the whole time at the con. He must have materialized cuz I saw almost everyone who walked through the dealers room and he was /not/ among them. Creepy creepy creepy!

I got picked up, I don't like being picked up. This was one of my big "please no's" in my convention rules I always post (but forgot to post this time) and of course, it happened. That aside I almost got scritched in the head. Some random guy, I don't know WHO he was, just puts his hand out and tries to grab my head. I avoid him and dodge and weave and his hand keeps following me despite my obvious "im avoiding you" motions. He finally goes "whyyyyy?" im like "uh. because I don't like it?" he seemed kinda bothered but shrugged it off. =/

I had a bit more prints this year and sold a lot more than last year because of this. I sold more Thorn Doodles as well and I was happy at the response I got from them but I will say I have a serious peeve that became a reality at this con:

People are treating my table like a library.

Originally I had the Thorn Doodles sealed up so people couldn't thumb through them and damage my display copies, but then I decided people might want to see what they're getting (although this isn't a possibility online and people still buy them) I had people who would stand at my table for 15 minutes at a time, completely read through BOTH doodle books, and not buy them. Now, no pressure to buy, but having been one of those people who frequented comic book stores and was privy to the folks who would treat the store like their own personal story hour, sitting on the floor reading comic after comic and never making a purchase, so this has become an annoyance of mine. Any advice on how to fix this, maybe offer some sample pages up front or should I just grin and bear it? Fortunately the sales made up for my annoyance, maybe I'm just being picky. This is only my second con selling so...*shrugs*

Apologies if I seemed short with anyone this con, kigeni and silber(on the phone) especially, as I don't think there was a time where my attention wasn't being grabbed in multiple directions and I was operating on little sleep as I hadn't had time to catch up really. =/ Oy. I need to make sure I get /plenty/ of sleep at cons, but unfortunately my room was next to the elevator and I kept hearing "WOM....WOM...WOM" all night long. Plus the whole floor stunk like shit and garbage....why? I honestly don't want to know. It was the second floor if you're curious or had a similar experience. Ugh.

But all in all it was good, shout outs to gearpony resilientspider vantid panth, kilojara, westly_roanoke, xianjaguar, kylet, martes, kigeni, timberwolf4u, crimson_fox, haskiwolf, doodlesthegreat, sfinder, mlight, skadjer, kishorwolf, vulpesrex, michelelight and a whole mess of people I met, saw, and already knew but my brain is totally fried right now XD

I'll get to scanning those badges :>
