Back - The art of Thornwolf — LiveJournal
Im back in the states. In a couple days I'll be going back to Cali, but in the meantime hartssong is taking care of me (Thank you!!!) despite the tornados that messed up my flight plans. Yay!

The flights and attempts to come back into the US sucked (almost wasnt allowed in, twice, went through 6 checkpoints) so bad that honestly talking about it anymore than just that sentence would take up your whole friends page with a tale of woe, so I'll spare you the details but I figured I'd let you all know that I'm alive.

I flew in and out of the States earlier this year to go to England. When I came back in, the guy was being a complete ass, getting a snobby attitude with how a 19 year old could afford to fly to England on her own and WHY she would be over there.

Then I got sent off to the side for some reason that I don't know of. Luckily that guy was much nicer, checked my bags through a scanny thingy and off I went. :/

The only thing we can figure is that because I'm caucasian/African/native mixed, the guy with the questions was being a prig and the guy who was nice (who was black) because they thought I might be middle eastern. :P

You better give me a call when you hit Cali, otherwise I'll be forced to do unspeakable things.

Blargh, sorry to hear you had troubles but glad you made it back!
Mbala and I are going to be flying into Germany this weekend, I am keeping my fingers crossed we won't be fussed with and massively delayed so we won't miss our train to Prague. :>

If you by chance are either in Bavaria, Northrhien Westphalia or Hesse, and need to know where to go, just ask =)

Thank you! :) This time we are just going to be in Dresden and then take a train into Prague, since it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than flying into Praha itself.
Hopefully next year we will get out to EF... or at least one of these years!

Good choice there with Dresden. beautiful city, with a rebuilt city center. You want to see the Frauenkirche there for sure, if history or at least world war II sparks your interest.

Prague is even more interesting.

That said, have a fun trip! =)

Glad to hear you are back safe and sound. Sorry it was such a bother returning though.

The United States... making the world safer more annoying to live in. :P Glad you made it back, though!

I went through two security checks at Heathrow the other week to fly to Sweden for the weekend. Two passport checks. Both times it was a belt off, shoes off, bags open, laptop open and through the system. Yet on the way back security was SO much simpler. One scan and one passport check.

Six checkpoints? Dear lord, I KNEW I should have emailed the White House to let them know that Germany was not one of our current enemies.

Ah well, at least the voodoo curse worked.

Glad to see your back ok. Mind I am surprised that they gave you so much shit at the Airports, 6 checkpoints? And you are a US citizen? Jesus H Christ on a Bike, please tell me that’s a joke!

I’ve heard that the Ges…*Blearg… Cough… spit…*, sorry I mean “Homeland security”, are giving visitors to the US of A upwards of 2 hours of security checks at some airports. This is one of the many reasons of why I haven’t done AnthroCon or FurtherConfusion yet.

Expect your fingerprints taken, a foto done and all your data double and triple checked. Also hidden threats when you do not comply 100 percent.

Been there, done that. And that was over a year ago. Can't imagine it got any better. One reason why I try to avoid to fly to the US anymore.

I was wondering, especially since its been ten years since I was in the USA last do they still have the wonderful green card thingy that you have to fill out on the flight?

You know the one that asks really intelligent questions like?

Are you a terrorist?

Are you smuggling drugs?

Where you connected to the Nazi party during the years of 1939-1945?

Are you going to attempt to assassinate the president of the United States?

Like anyone’s going to admit to any of that lot.

Have you been rejected from the US before?

Do you have drugs with you?

Jup, still there.

This was designed to catch the really stupid terrorists.

Yep I'm a US citizen, white as white can be...well youve seen me. Not middle eastern looking in the slightest. Im still pissed because in Germany they almost didn't let me through and stamp my passport because I apparently stayed right at the 90 day mark and that was suspicious. He kept asking me questions in German trying to trick me into answering in German. dont make the limit 90 days if youre gonna question people when they take up the offer!
