First, a song. Pay no attention to the lyrics (that is if you happen to understand them), the sound just reminds me of these photos and the scenery, that and the fact that I was listening to this a lot on my way through here.
Forseti - Sturmgeweiht
Highway 101. You can see a little bit of the ocean on the left, this shot is taken right by La Conchita, site of the very famous (at least around here) mudslide(S!) yes. there have been more than one, lots actually, some on records dating back through the 1800's where surveyors say "this place has too many mud slides DONT BUILD MINING ROADS HERE!" but they do anyways and..yanno. I need to stop taking so many photos while I'm driving, I think that practice will be the death of me.
And finally I arrive at my second check point, the Kalyra winery in Santa Barbara! Wine tasting, everything on their menu, is only $7 bucks, free if you join their wine thief club, which I did. Oy they get you loaded then they start in with the paperwork and the signing and the oy vey! Here I'm enjoying some of their very delicious Tawny Port. A must have! Check out their website at http://www.kalyrawinery.com

And don't worry I sobered up plenty and called nearly everyone on my cellphone call list who lives in Cali before I left. Don't drink and drive folks!
I made a little drive through Solvang, a little Californian town done up to look like a little Danish village. Note the architecture!
And of course more scenery to be had.
Next up, San Fran!
