*weeps!*
I'm so sad you guys. My iPod died. My little precious Nano that I've only had for a couple months died and I don't know what happened.

Here's a list of events that happened today:

- I noticed my battery was dead so I took it to my car to plug into my car charger (i dont have a wall charger)
-After about a half an hour the iPod was fine and functional
-I put it in my purse and took it to work. It usually spends most of its time in my purse and it has a little case for it so it doesnt get messed up.
-I plug it into my car charger/car radio adapter 9 hours later and it doesn't turn on. The light that is on the cigarette lighter plug end of the adapter lights up, but the light on the ipod side of the plug does not light up and the ipod will not turn on.
-The ipod will not turn on by itself either.

I don't know what could have happened to it while it was in my locker for 9 hours. I mean maybe it ran out of batteries but I've never had it happen where my car charger wouldn't charge it, that's partially what its function is. Do you think it could have shorted out somehow? I don't know what could have happened honestly.

*weeps!* This sucks because this means that i have to listen to the radio when im driving. The MinoTaurus (my car..rrrgh ghetto battle scarred used ford taurus) has /no/ cd player, not even a tape deck, so radio is the only option. I got the ipod and the car radio adapter so I could have some sort of music while I was driving. This sucks to have happen right before a mini road trip up to Califur :/ Suggestions?

Aw man :( It sucks when they die

No idea what could have happened, but maybe you can get it checked out by some iPod store?

have you plugged it into your computer to charge/sync it?

I was going to ask the same thing. sometimes the best thing to do is just leave it unplugged, let the battery die, and then hook it up to your computer. can't promise it'll work, but it's worked for me... good luck!

it sounds a bit like it's the charger that's the broken part, or possibly the port for plugging it into the ipod. Have you tried charging it via your computer at all?

*random* Hey, any reason you removed me from your friends list? I was just wondering if there was some post I missed where you stated that there was a cleaning going on and those who wanted to stay should comment thing.

Just wondering! Hope you are doing well otherwise.

rrh? I did that over a year ago :/ I just removed people who I didn't know very well/didn't read much of their entries. i still check in from time to time for the art but I somehow felt like I was "snooping" since I didn't know you very well.

Not to mention at the time I was kind of mad about the sketchbook thing from FC. I'm over it now obviously but it was a mixture of things. Sorry if I offended! D:

lolz. Shows how often I check my 'manage friends page' thing. Alright well that's cool, I just wanted to make sure you didn't have some unsettled issue or something XD Plus I was half drunk when I wrote that so I was feeling confrontational >_> I am cool now.

Buh, sorry that made you mad... :( I felt pretty lousy about it. But yes, in the past. I am not offended, just wondering if there was something you wanted to say to me, I guess >_>

nope! I dont know you well enough at all to have a deeper reason. I just unfriend people because I rotate who I have friended pretty often. You're not missing anything though. Everything on here's public. I only friend people when I mutually read their journal.
airukitsu From: airukitsu Date: April 23rd, 2007 06:26 pm (UTC) (Link)
Alright, that's cool, I totally understand :3 I am sorry if i sound dramatic or something, like I said had I been completely sober I probably wouldn't have said anything XD But I do the same thing, so no hard feelings.

Hay, you live down in San Diego, don't you? If ever you come up to Laguna Beach, lemme know and I'll show ya around or something.

dont worry I already have you pegged as someone I'd definitely contact if I'm ever up that way. Unfortunately I don't forsee myself being up there for quite some time, buuuut are you going to Califur at all?
airukitsu From: airukitsu Date: April 23rd, 2007 11:59 pm (UTC) (Link)
No, sadly. But I know Kigs is and he wants to hang out with me while he is down here for that :/ I dunno if he wants to drag me to the con or see me outside of it...
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: April 24th, 2007 06:02 am (UTC) (Link)
well im gonna be pretty much tied to my table the whole time. I wanna do something for my birthday one of the nights of the con, maybe do a dinner thing. I was gonna invite Kigs anyways as long as he doesn't bring an entourage (i hate large groups) but if for some reason you're dragged along I'd love to have you go with us :)
airukitsu From: airukitsu Date: April 24th, 2007 06:28 am (UTC) (Link)
:3 Sure! I will see what I can do! I will let Kigs know what I am capable of doing. :3

My brother had the same issue with his ipod Nano, it stopped charging after a while. Apparently they are designed in a way so as to break after a certain amount of time (I heard that apparently there was some sort of scandal/lawsuit against Apple even because of it).

Try charging it via your computer/laptop, but if that doesn't work then unfortunately your ipod may have kicked the bucket. :( Mine was bought used off of ebay and is still going strong, but I dread the day it keels over and dies. Apparently it's bound to happen to all of 'em.

Best of luck in getting it fixed or replaced though. Being MP3-playerless sucks. What sort of car radio adaptor do you have? I use a tape deck to ipod adaptor, but as you mentioned, you lack a tape deck. Is there any way to hook up a standard, cheapie portable CD player to your car radio via that adaptor and then just burn music mix CD's? I used to do that with my tape deck adaptor before I bought an ipod.

Ipod Nano has died or malfunctioned on like half of the people I know that has one. It's my personal impression that the anorectic design seem to make it overly vulnerable.

have you tried to let the battery dry completely?
sometimes electronic equipment batteries have the "memory recall" problem.. where if you recharge it too many times witouth using at least 75% of the battery.. it will start chargin less.. so doing afull cycle around 3 times helps to fix the problem D:

I always have six heart attacks when my ipod video refuses to power on. Usually plugging it into my computer to resynch fixes the problem - perhaps you should also make use of Apple's excellent customer support technicians. :)

Take it to the nearest AppleStore (The little nerd-station in a BestBuy, etc). Cry, show boobs, whatever it takes to make them fix it. They're guaranteed for at least a year I think, and more if you buy the AppleCare thing (I did!) and they're very fast about fixing or exchanging, usually, IME.

That has happened to my Nano as well. All you have to do is reboot the thing by pressing a couple of buttons down at the same time. I forget the sequence but you can probably find out how at this site here.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705

or

Reset the iPod by pressing the Play and Menu buttons for 10 seconds.
When you see the Apple logo, press and hold the Previous and Next buttons for 10 seconds

that did it! Its fixed! Thank you so much :D

Like star mentioned in the above they have a thing kinda going on. My mini(the one that brought that to light hence discontinued) won't play off the charger, well now it won't play at all actually (my other one will play on a charge though thank god). The battery makes a memory and then gets so small a 'space' to charge and its not enough for it to even turn on.

I don't know if they fixed that sort of issue with the nano's though. But for half hour intervals on the charger it may have started to dwindle memory some for a charge.
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: April 23rd, 2007 04:58 pm (UTC) (Link)
well the thing is it was almost always on the charger if it was playing through my car radio. when its in the adapter its also charging, theres no way for me to avoid that. if that caused my battery to dwindle i'm pissed because i can't use it without it charging it :/
stormr_d From: stormr_d Date: April 24th, 2007 12:33 am (UTC) (Link)
If the reboot technique someone mentioned above(again I never had a nano so dunno its quirks) I did the same with the lighter charger for my mini in my car, the power it used while charging/playing as you go makes it dependant on a constant charge since it never burned what it had stored it thinks it doesn't have that anymore.

Hopefully the reboot works for you, otherwise its probably the battery devolped a memory by the sounds of it :/
