Man, how did you learn how to use colour so well? The way you shade things and stuff...just so pretty. I think the last two are my favs, but it's hard to choose. I love that scarf and those birds, though, in the third one<3 Awesome.

Winter is so pretty.

actually a lot of it is guess and check. What looks good, what mood am I trying to create, and so forth. Like on the last one, it would make sense that the shadows are blue and reflective of the snow etc. I learned a lot from the way other artists handle things really.

Thank you!

Oh, good call. I guess it's a little easier to experiment when doing digital art? Just another reason I'm jealous of anyone with a tablet. :B

yeah it is. i always do digital color mockups before i do large paintings too because sometimes i think im getting things to be vibrant enough but they really just..arent. My ACEO's, what you see is what you get, cuz they're painted and I didn't do color mockups prior so sometimes they work out the way I want and sometimes they don't, but my larger paintings like my barbary lion yeah I futzed with the levels on that until I got it to where I wanted it then I painted.

These icons I did started out a bit more muted, not by too much but still sometimes I like to bring a little bit more "pop" into them after the fact.

Oh, I see. That's a brilliant idea that I never thought of. D: Now I want a tablet to benefit my traditional art as well as being able to do digital.
Christmas wishful thinking, though. X) Eventually, I will snag a tablet!

Hey Thorn, these are really amazing. I don't want you to think there wasn't interest. I was THIS close. I just have a will of steel not to spoil myself when it's nearly Christmas and I should be spoiling other people :)
Beauties though.
If I can manage to sell some icons/whatever at some point I'll use it to commission you ;)

Haha even if I don't.. I'm -still- tempted.

Of course, that makes sense, and I'm not trying to be all pouty mcpout face. I'm actually still kinda disappointed that my christmas time ACEO's didn't really get a lot of bites, if any at all so this coupled with my last few commission attempts kinda put a damper on my mood.

Thank you though, that means a lot :)

They're all gorgeous, Thornwolf.
I love the dramatic use of perspective in blackteagan's icon, and trufflehog's is just adorable.

They all came out gorgeously (although the deer/owl kinda makes me o.0 a bit)... But my favorite is definitely the last one. I'm not quite sure what it is, maybe the way the fur and ears are a little squooshed up, but it really gives a sense of being all snuggled up in thick comfy clothing. Just gives a nice sense of coziness in the wind. Which...I don't know how you relate to, being a California girl and all, so double kudos ;-)

you know, I don't know either, especially since like you said, I'm a Cali gal, its not like I really relate to this save for some occasional visits to the snow and that winter I spent in Germany XD

This makes me miss winter even more. God, I wish I could be back home this year. *Currently sweating in Florida*

The first and last are my favorites. Reminds me of the times my dad would take me and my cousin sledding in the park. Bonus points for waves of nostalgia. :D
