Amburgers and Wootbeer
Warning: Do NOT try A&W's "Rootbeer Float in a Bottle".

I guess the only good thing is its one of the few American beverages out there that uses real sugar instead of corn syrup, and this is made with "real cream!" Oh god, urp. So much anticipation, wasted D:

Current Mood: sick sick

The cream soda version isn't any better.

Odd... because I said exactly this warning on my post yesterday!
thornwolf From: thornwolf Date: May 14th, 2008 06:18 am (UTC) (Link)
did you?? omg how did i miss that? at any rate this happened days ago i only got around to drawing the reaction now XD
skorzy From: skorzy Date: May 14th, 2008 06:23 am (UTC) (Link)
My reaction was almost the same. I was WARNED that it was awful, but.. given it was the final bottle in the machine, I had to be machismo and give it a shot, vowing to finish that 12oz. can

First taste... odd, but not poison. Second taste, more odd.. third taste... just a hint of evil. Fourth taste.. things are not well with the world... fifth taste... animal abuse...

I admit I got almost half the bottle down before I waved the white flag and nearly puked. Saved only by an emergency administration of Coca Cola.

I was laughed at too. But.. I have done what no others have done before me!!!!

For more terror, read the ingredient list.

Oh believe me, my stomach lurched at the "cream". I just checked your entry, I skimmed it because it was at the top just after the cut. I always tend to do that for some reason :P

Sorry you have to spend your birthday ill in the stomach :(

(I'd doodle you something but got quite busy recently)

Sounds like a just plain bad idea (and is it really so hard to put ice cream in root beer one's self?). Still, my feeling is that nothing could be worse than Pepsi Blue.

Meanwhile, I've tried soda with real sugar, only to find that I crave the corn syrup. Oh well.

I was given one of these by Tugrik last week and dared to drink it. I told him I wouldn't try it unless it was cold, and so I took it home and put it in the fridge. I had a few swallows. Jenna had a few swallows. It's still sitting in the fridge, unfinished and unloved.
swandog From: swandog Date: May 14th, 2008 10:06 am (UTC) (Link)
Oy, thanks for the warning, because that is something I definitely would've wanted to try! O_o BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :D <3 (P.S. I'm terribly scatterbrained and can't recall if I'd already wished you one or not.)

First off Happy Birthday :)
Secondly, OMG that's like looking into a mirror of my reaction to that shit.
How on earth did this ever make it to the shelves?
Did they test it with people who have no tastebuds...or perhaps they don't know what a float tastes like?

I hope you are feeling better today, since it's your birthday!

All the best,

Sorry on behalf of the military industrial soda complex for your dissappointment. nothing beats the real thing, ordered on that tinny sounding speaker box and delivered to you on a window tray. Happy birthday any how!!

1. Happy Birthday!

2. For your birthday, I shall see about getting you a PROPER root beer float.

Root Beer Float

Might I recommend Virgil's Gourmet Root beer (found at World Market or Costco - or was that Sam's Club?)? That's my favorite rootbeer. Weinhard is also good, but I think Virgils is better. And if you can find "Wooly Bugger Grand Cru Root Beer" made by the Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co., you will experience a most delicious sensation as I recall. I've only found it once though. It has beet sugar in it.

Happy Birthday from me too, Thorn!

Re: Root Beer Float

Thankfully, there is a BevMo in my area, which has a fine selection of root beers and other sodas. I knew of Virgil's (as well as Thomas Kemper, also delish), but I will seek out the Wooly Bugger for a lark.
