Beware the Gorn
Guess where I went this weekend.

My travel companion skorzy and I took a day trip to Mars!

...kind of

The Vasquez Rocks, only about an hour or so from my house, have been seen in numerous commercials, movies, and television shows, most famously Star Trek

The climb to the top was surprisingly steep

Break time (half way point)

OH NO A COUGAR! (hide your sons and throw cosmopolitans at it!)

Little bit of Dirty Harry..

Little bit of Brokeback Mountain

LOL! Great pics. You're both a couple of loons out there. ;)
I have yet to go treadin' about those rocks, but I'd love to someday. I love interesting landscapes. <3

As a fan of Star Trek, Blazing Saddles, and Short Circuit, I am really wondering why I never went out there when I lived in Corona, CA.

(Then again I could've just gone to Angeles Forest behind my house and play M*A*S*H, so I guess it evened out.)

I didn't know you had previously lived in Corona. Yeah that would have been relatively close, maybe probably about a half hour difference I'd say.

And LOL I didn't know M*A*S*H was in the Angeles Forest...but then again I'm not really a huge fan of the show XD

I do like going to places that were in movies or on TV though. Its geeky fun

Gorram it, how have we never ended up crawling over Vasquez Rocks together? That's a damn shame. And now I'm all... You know. In Seattle. :/

Our last visit was for photo shootery:

But I got NO CLIMBING DONE. Madness.

Awesome! And I dunno. Often times people don't realize how central San Bernardino is to...yanno..everything fun. I think this is the best place I've lived yet just cuz I'm at the mid point to everything. Next time you're in Cali look me up and may the gods smile down on my school schedule.

I didn't know that Mars was that close (to you house)! XD Good God ... If I find a way to keep all the money that I gain at work I'll use them to come down there!!! ;D (Why is it so complicated?) :P

That reminds me "For a fistful of Dollars" or "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (strange, beacause Sergio Leone often used Catalonian and Morrocoan locations for its movies) :P

BTW, I love your new Icon! =D
Wonderful shots too! ;D
I think I'll post a couple of photos too ... ;)

Fortunately for me every place we've been so far is relatively close to my house so its more of a day trip than a road trip but heck yes! :D

Like all those Star Trek episodes, did you run into your old enemy from the Academy?

Last time I was there was back in the 60s, when they had the fort for Tales of the Bengal Lancers there.

Love Vasquez Rocks. That was one of the first places I visited when I moved out to L.A.

Glad you got to see them Fun stuff!

I live in Encino now. We should hang out some time. Do you still live in that foresty type place in the mountains? Does it smell like autumn there? This SoCal sun is driving me crazy when I'm used to the Minnesota changing seasons. I'd totally make the bear drive me there if it's anything similar (and if you'd be open to a visit!). :)

Hey girl! Hell yes I'm open for a visit! The schedule's getting kind of tight here now that autumn is here, trying to get some last minute camping in before snow season starts, but hell yes, you and your beau are both welcome :)

Sweet! Yeah, our schedules are pretty tight too, but I'd love to pencil some time in. Throw an email at me - my lj name at gmail.com and let me know something that might work for ya. :) (Camping would be super fun if you don't have plans with others!)

Thank you :3 I really like taking non-serious pictures. My mom used to complain that I never take enough pictures of people, its always scenery, so I've been trying to make an effort but I prefer goofy to serious XD

Ooooh Indy love <3 Is it cuz of the hat? I freaking love this hat. It's probably one of my most favorite things I own. :D

did you get a chance to stand between the infamous "movie" gorge? You know, the one you can see from the Freeway. It was in Army of Darkness when they were talking while on horses., 2 of the Beast Master movies, and soooo ho ho many others. How could you not have stood between it!?
