New MFF art - The art of Thornwolf — LiveJournal
New MFF art
I've put a preview image for you here to look at so you can decide on whether or not you want to click under the cut, because the original image contains nipples. I really hate cutting my artwork lest people skip on over it, but I'm saving your friends list from surprise sphinx nipples. So please, if you wish to see the full version, click under the cut XD

"Claws of Fate"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've been wanting to draw a sphinx for awhile and yeah its kind of a boring pose, it was also more of a mindless pencil rendering exercise because "Into The Wind" was so much fun to do :D I finished a lot of commissions today, so I felt I earned some personal art time.

*EDIT* Sorry if there was some down time for the image, apparently these nipples are too offensive for Photobucket's TOS. How dumb :P

She does look lovely for it though and horrah for sane remotely possibly jewelry! Yay also for atually having some meat on her :)

Yeah a skinny sphinx would be really gross.

I still don't think she could put all that jewelry on herself though, or maintain it properly (hello infection, cat paws are DIRTY). I just like shiny things!

YAY SPHINXES! I don't think it's a boring pose; it's very "classic".

Also: She's beautiful! I love her wings and jewelry, too!

P.S.: Yay for pencil too! :D

Thank you! You were a major inspiration for this I will admit :D Especially with the stylization of the wings for the "design" aspect of it.

Really??? I am honored! :D But still, this piece looks totally *you* and it is awesome. :)

I think it's cool when people take mythical creatures and do them as realistically as possible, but I have to say when people stylize things their own way (like the wings you did here) it appeals to me even more; one because it shows a bit of the artist's taste and design and thoughts, and two, because the design-y aspect of it... I dunno how to explain it, hm, helps show that the creature is a mythical thing, and is not confined to nature's rules or something, which makes it seem all the more interesting and special to me. (sorry for not explaining it well!)

Haha I know what you mean ;D And yeah I was kiiiiind of hoping to get away with the whole "its fantasy, anatomy WHAAAT?" but then again the way a sphinx's boobs are placed, I kind of have to do that anyways. I had the hardest time! They're just gonna be squished and thats that.

So pretty! I love the way you do wings. <3

Thank you! I admit they're not my strong suit and I'm sure there's lots of errors with them (I have several friends who study wings constantly...so its a bit intimidating to post!) but i tried to do them in a more "illustrative" way.

Wasn't expecting this. Not sure if it's my taste, but love the detail. :3

Wow, that's awesome! I love how her eyes are cat-like. And the powerful, strong lion anatomy is just great! You did a good job blending lion & lady.
